Buyer's Information

Registration

In order to bid on auctions or purchase "Maxx Deals" online, you must have a Maxx Liquidation Solutions account. Registration is free. You must be at least 18 years old and have a valid credit card to activate an account. Maxx will attempt a $500 pre-authorization on your credit card at the time of application. This authorization will disappear within 7-10 business days. Should you use a Visa Debit card for this application – the funds will be deducted from your account and returned within 7-10 business days. There will be an authorization for each registration attempt. You will be sent an SMS to the cellphone number you provide at the time of registration. This will be used to validate the number you have provided. You will be given the option to update your notifications to receive them via email or via SMS.

New Member Probation Period

New members are subject to payment and bidding restrictions. You will not be permitted to send online payments with your credit card via Authorize-Net until your account meets our security requirements (be a member for 30 days, spend $1000 and complete payment on 5 invoices). Until then, you may pay for your items online through the checkout portal on your account with PayPal (E-CHECKS are not accepted) or e-transfer. You may also pay in-store using Cash, Interac, Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover. Once your account has the restrictions automatically lifted, you will be permitted to send online payments using our online credit card checkout portal through your account.

Bid Increments

All auctions begin at $1.00 with no reserves. Bids are accepted in the following increments:

  • $1-$9 ~ $1
  • $10-$19 ~ $2
  • $20-$99 ~ $5
  • $100-$299 ~ $10
  • $300-$749 ~ $25
  • $750-$1499 ~ $50
  • $1500-$4999 ~ $100
  • $5000-$19,999 ~ $500
  • $20,000 AND UP ~ $1,000

20% Buyer’s Premium

Our auction events charge a 20% Buyer’s Premium which is displayed on the Browse and Listing pages. The Buyer’s Premium is taxable and will be applied to auction items only upon checkout. For example, if you won an auction item for $100, your end purchase price would be $100 plus $20 plus HST on $120.

Bidding Practices

We use the proxy (automatic) method of bidding, meaning that we will bid on your behalf up to the maximum amount you have indicated (if necessary). The definition of proxy bidding (used by eBay) is stated below.

"Proxy bidding is an implementation of an English second-price auction used on eBay, in which the winning bidder pays the price of the second-highest bid plus a defined increment."

Examples of our bidding process are explained below:

  • If an auction has no bids, and you enter a maximum bid of $25.00, your current bid is $1.00 and if nobody else bids, you will win the auction for $1.00.
  • If another bidder bids $15.00, we will automatically increase your bid to $17.00.
  • If another bidder bids $26.00 (or higher), you have been outbid and will be notified via email or SMS.

You have the option to increase your proxy bid at any time before the auction ends.

In the event that 2 members bid the same amount, the first member to place said bid will take precedence.

New members are subject to bidding restrictions. You will be required to check out your invoice once you have won 3 items or your invoice total exceeds $1000, whichever comes first. If you need your invoice recorded as paid immediately, please DO NOT send e-transfer. Paypal is recommended. Once your invoice is marked paid – a new invoice will be created. Refer to the New Member Probation Period for more information.

Quickbid

A Quickbid is the ability to bid the next available increment in the auction. It is available on the browse pages of auctions and your active bids page of your account. Once executed, the listing will inform you of your status, winning or being outbid by another bidder's proxy (max) bid.

Soft Close (Popcorn Bidding)

If a bid is placed on an item within 1 minute of closing, the closing time will be extended by 1 minute.

Buyer’s Remorse

If you have won an Auction or Maxx Deal item that you no longer wish to buy (buyer's remorse), we do allow members to cancel their purchase(s) by paying a restocking fee for each lot they want cancelled (unless stated otherwise in listing comments). This fee is 20% (minimum $40 charge) of the sale price of the item(s) being restocked, plus taxes. This fee must be paid via e-transfer, debit or cash. This fee must be received, and staff must acknowledge its receipt before any removal and payment deadlines pass.

Should you need to remove a Dealer Lot Auction item from your account, you will be charged a minimum 20% or $200 fee (plus taxes), whichever is greater, up to a maximum of $99999 plus taxes. This fee must be paid via Cash, Debit or E-Transfer (to [email protected]). We regret that we are unable to remove As Is lots after they have been picked.

What are "Maxx Deal" items?

They are items available at any time for immediate purchase. These items have the same warranties and payment/pickup policies as auction items. There are no Buyer’s Premiums on Maxx Deals.

Methods of Payment

We accept Cash, Interac, Visa, Mastercard, Amex and Discover, e-transfer (to [email protected]) and Paypal.

Account Suspension

Any accounts with outstanding payment balances will be suspended. In order to reactivate your account, a $50 reactivation charge plus all fees owing must be paid in full. We reserve the right to report any delinquent accounts to collection agencies.

Pickup/Shipping Information

All items purchased on or before Tuesday at 11:59 pm must be paid for and picked up by the upcoming Friday at 6pm. If an item is not paid for and picked up by the Friday deadline, Maxx Liquidation Solutions will attempt to charge the payment to the member's card on file without prior notification. For example, if you purchase your item at 2pm on Tuesday, the payment and pickup deadline is the upcoming Friday by 6pm. If you purchase your item on Wednesday at 12am, payment and pickup is due the following Friday by 6pm (9 days later). You have until Friday at 6pm to remove the merchandise from our premises. When an item has passed the removal deadline, we will attempt to ship the item(s) to you. Shipping charges will be charged to your credit card on file.

If the item is not shippable as stated in the listing and/or a payment decline, the item will be removed from your account and made available for sale on our site again. You will be charged a restocking fee of 20%, minimum $40 (or 20%, minimum $200 up to $99999 for Dealer Lot Auction items) of the sale price of the item(s) not shipping, plus taxes.

Please note that we are unable to separate or combine invoices. Payment and pick up times will be based on the date of oldest item purchased.

Each online auction and Maxx Deal listing contains shipping/pickup information and a shipping fee calculator. Each listing will state whether the item is eligible to be combined with shipments at a discounted rate. The discounted rates are stated as follows:

$1 COMBINED SHIPPING - This item will incur a $1 charge when shipped with any other combined shipping item(s).

$5 COMBINED SHIPPING - This item will incur a $5 charge when shipped with any other combined shipping item(s).

SHIPPING AVAILABLE - This item is not combinable and is not subject to shipping rate discounts.

FREE PICKUP ONLY - This item is not able to be shipped. It must be picked up from our warehouse.

For example, if you purchase 3 items, two are $1 combinable, and one is not combinable at all, the shipping fees will be as follows:

You will pay full price for the non combinable item. Then you will pay full shipping for the item with the next most expensive shipping fee, then the $1 combined shipping item will be added. If your shipping rate is $17 for each item, for example, your shipping for this invoice will look like this:

$17 (non combinable item) + $17 (next most expensive shipping charge item) + $1, for a total shipping amount of $35. Should you choose to add 5 $1 combinable items, the same scenario will look like this:

$17 + $17 + $1 + $1 +$1 +$1 for a total shipping amount of $39.

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have questions regarding your shipping fees prior to purchasing items.

We are not responsible for any additional charges incurred after the item has left our premises such as import duties/taxes or additional delivery fees assessed upon delivery.

Multiple invoices are unable to be combined for shipping discounts. We use UPS for shipping and are unable to use third party shipping accounts.
